For most of us, the festive season is something to look forward to. It’s a time full of family events, social gatherings and traditions.
But for young people who have experienced growing up in the care system, this time of year can be especially difficult.
Whilst their peers spend the holidays at home with their families, young people from care experienced backgrounds often have nowhere to go. And for those who don’t have a family home to go back to, Christmas Day can feel particularly isolating.
No young person should feel alone over the winter holidays, let alone on Christmas Day.
Will you make a gift before 16 December to help a young person who’s grown up in the care system experience an extra special Christmas Day?
For more than ten years, our University community has come together to host a Christmas Dinner for care-experienced young people. So they can enjoy a warm meal, festive activities and most importantly – feel like they’re not alone.
Right now, our event volunteers are working hard to get everything ready. They’re sourcing gifts, food and transport for the big day.
This December, thanks to the generousity of more than 150 people, we’re able to host all 50 young people – and give them the Christmas Day they deserve. Any gifts above our £3,000 target will go towards making Christmas Day extra special for them.
Nobody should be alone on Christmas Day. By making a gift before 16 December, you’ll make sure a care-experienced young person enjoys the Christmas they deserve.
Thank you so much.
